In my opinion there isn't a reason not to play modded even if you're a brand new player. Aside from patches and QOL fixes they have also worked hard to elevate the experience above and beyond what from vanilla offers alone. Luckily MELE has a dedicated modding community that has resolved most of these problems over the years.
